A look at the results of this year's work has shown that I am particularly fond of the panorama format. It was therefore almost inevitable that the 2023 edition would feature Austrian landscapes in panorama format. We are also currently working on an article dedicated to this topic.

Now there are only a few days until the Photoadventure on 12. and 13.11.2022 in the Pyramid in Vösendorf will take place.

Our two seminars can already be booked:

And there is a folder with program highlights of the event.

We present new works in the exhibition "A look into nature". On the one hand, there will be panoramas or details of typical Austrian landscapes (e.g. the Dachstein massif, Mühlviertel, Wildalpen) and on the other hand tiny details taken through a microscope (e.g. various motifs of mountain pine (needle, wood)).

Recently I gave a presentation (online) on extreme macrophotographyat the "Mikroskopischen Gesellschaft Wien". Here you can find the presentation (only available in German).

The Photoadventure team is optimistic. The next Photoadventure will take place 12 to 13 November 2022 at the Pyramide in Vösendorf/Vienna. We are also optimistic and - as things stand at the moment - are taking part with two seminars:

  • Warum Makrofotos so oft misslingen (why macro photos fail so often)
  • Komposition und Bildwirkung in der Fotografie (the message of an image)

In addition, we are showing new works in the exhibition "Ein Blick in die Natur". On the one hand, there will be panoramas or details of typical Austrian landscapes (e.g. the Dachstein massif, Mühlviertel, Wildalpen) and on the other hand tiny details taken through a microscope (e.g. various motifs of mountain pine (needle, wood)).

Recently I gave a presentation (online) on embedding with PEG (polyethylene glycol) at the "Mikroskopischen Gesellschaft Wien". Here you can find the presentation (only available in German).

As photographers, we are used to reacting flexibly to situations. Many of the world's famous shots have been taken this way. But there are also shots that require careful and possibly elaborate preparation and efforts. The 2022 workshops' offer something of both aspects. They are already open for registration. Individual workshops will be "fine-tuned" in the coming weeks.

In addition to landscape photography, this year I was particularly interested in the subject of wood. Inspired by a wood preparation seminar by Bernd Miggel, I dived deaper into this topic and have been fascinated ever since. When cutting wood, there are standard cutting planes (transverse, radial and tangential). For this compilation, I have chosen only tangential cuts. I also defined the term "wood" a bit broader and also cut woody material (e.g. the hops). The sections were stained with different colors (e.g. three-part staining according to Robin Wacker, consisting of arcridine red, acriflavine and astra blue). All images are stacked and stitched.

How woodcuts are made can be read in this article for MGW (in German).
